Hygienic Hide Pullers

Steriline Engineering hide pullers introduced a higher level of the hygienic removal of hide, through their downward operation. It is this downward pulling process that greatly reduces the risk of cross contamination, as animal matter is not spread above the machine, eliminating the chance of any descending during the next process cycle.

To further protect against contamination, the Steriline probe unit is sterilized between each cycle. The probe sterilizing unit has a continuous cycle of hot water to enable the probe to be dipped into the unit for decontamination.

Provision of the highest hygiene standards does not end there, with optional hand wash and steriliser basins, for cleaning and sterilising hands and knives between each carcass, decontamination between each animal is ensured.

Hide Puller Safety Compliance

Safety Interlock Category 3 compliance is standard on Steriline Engineering hide pullers. These safety upgrades from the original machines incorporate:

• Individual locking safety bars for the operator’s and assistant’s rise and fall platforms, providing safety while working at heights and also ensuring the operators and assistants remain secure on the platforms during the probe and drum operation;
• Bump safety strips on the bottom of each platform, with in built sensors to automatically shut down the machine if there is an obstruction below the platform, providing a safer environment for any personnel underneath the platforms.

The Steriline Engineering downward hide puller is compliant to Safety Interlock Category 3, in electrical and hydraulic systems. This feature enhances the safety of the rise and fall platforms as well as the winch drum rotational control. These improved control features provide:

• Improved sensitivity of operation controls with proportional rise and fall, and drum speed;
• Smoother rotation of the drum, resulting in greater hide quality retention;
• Increased safety for operators at heights and during movement;
• Higher grade of carcass than previously achievable after hide removal.

As safety is paramount for Steriline Engineering, our machines are also fitted with the following safety features:

• Probe unit safety guards to prevent accidental shock to operators;
• Safety indicator probe light to identify when probe has power on;
• Emergency stop button to power down machine in the event of an emergency;
• Isolating switch to allow for safe cleaning and maintenance;
• Extendable platforms to reduce over extension and strain on the operators, improving working condition ergonomics;
• Foldable step to platforms to increase ease of ascension, improve safety and meet step height regulations;
• Identification labels for controls and safety hazards.

When considering a hide puller machine, remember, Australian Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare regulations require every employer to provide a safe workplace under the duty of care. The Safety of Machinery Australian Standard AS4024.1 means all control systems must be compliant with Safety Interlock Category 3 rating. • The Steriline Engineering Single Ram Hide Puller is capable of production rates up to 120 cycles per hour (or one cycle every 30 seconds).
• The probe unit of the Steriline machine enhances the carcass stiffness to prevent vertebrae separation, maintaining meat quality. The probe also incorporates adjustable positions to allow for varying size animals on the one machine.
• The machine includes a touchscreen hydraulic controller to manage operational and safety functions.
• The machine also incorporates automatic hide release chains, which eliminate operator intervention and increases cycle speed.
• The tapered flange drum improves accuracy for hide collection onto the drum, making the process faster and protecting the hide from damage.
