Boom Gates with a focus on Safety
Steriline boom gates are fitted with our safety sensor system to ensure retraction of the beam, should any obstruction be present during the closing phase. In addition to this main safety feature, our boom gates also include:
- Attractive enclosure with large radius corners to minimize the chance of injury.
- Hydraulic damping at end of travel both down and up for operator safety and machine longevity.
- Automatic engagement of “up” position lock to resist inadvertent actuation by strong wind gusts.

Steriline boom gates are designed and manufactured using strong, long-lasting materials, ensuring the robust construction withstands harsh conditions. The design includes:
- A strong, large section, extruded aluminum, clear anodized
- Small base footprint with no unsightly counterbalance protruding from the base
- Heavy duty pivot shaft and bearing system to ensure long product life.
- Fully galvanized steel frame construction for extended life.
- Simple operating mechanism to ensure minimal maintenance requirements.
- Spring balanced beam to minimize inertia and enhance operator convenience.
- Outboard receptacle with manual lock for the end of beam providing strength and security.
- Spring balance force profiled to hold the beam in the horizontal (closed) position and to hold at the vertical (open) position while still being light to operate.
Boom Gate Models
A range of activation options are available including:
- Manually operated;
- Electrically operated;
- One touch push button;
- Encoded security card which restricts access to areas for authorized personnel and vehicles;
- Remote control opening.
Manually operated boom gates are operated by hand with minimal effort. They feature a two-position locking button that will lock in either the fully open or fully closed position.
The electric boom gate is operated from one of two buttons, one on either side. It incorporates a delay timer that will automatically close the boom gate and a safety ‘laser’ beam that will prevent closing while there is any obstruction. The boom gate operates from a battery system that is recharged by mains power. This allows the boom gate to continue operating in the event of a power failure. There is also an optional solar recharging system, providing saving on electricity costs, and avoiding power failures.
